Dr. Geoffrey Hall | Lab Director

Dr. Geoffrey Hall is a Professor at the University of British Columbia. He is a Fellow of the Association for Psychological Science. He serves on the Editorial Board of the journal, Language Learning and Development and has been an Associate Editor of the journal, Child Development, and a member of the Editorial Board of the journal, Developmental Psychology. Dr. Hall’s research focuses on language and cognitive development in infancy and early childhood. Dr. Hall’s secondary research area is Cognitive Science.

Erica Dharmawan | Graduate Student
Erica is a PhD Student at UBC’s Developmental Psychology program. Her current research projects explore whether children categorize and evaluate artifacts according to the identity of their maker. In her spare time, Erica enjoys going on walks, baking, and watching movies.

Bella | Lab Manager
Bella is a fourth-year undergraduate student pursuing a major in Psychology and a minor in Biology. She is particularly interested in child development, focusing on how early cognitive and biological factors interact to shape children’s growth and well-being. Her research interests include developmental science and early learning. In her free time, Bella loves painting, arts and crafts, trying new workout classes, and spending time with family and friends.

Anita | Research Assistant

Anita is a fourth-year undergraduate student currently enrolled in the Honours Psychology program. Within the realm of psychology, her research interests include developmental and health psychology. In the developmental field, she aims to explore brand name categorization in children, and she is also actively involved in research focusing on social connectivity and health in older adults. Beyond the lab, Anita enjoys travelling, drawing, and going on early morning runs.
Angel | Research Assistant
Angel is a fourth-year undergraduate student majoring in Psychology with a minor in Education, focusing on Interpersonal Development. She is especially interested in cognitive development and social psychology, as well as topics related to mental health. In the future, she plans to pursue graduate studies in counselling psychology. During her free time, she enjoys visiting the beach, baking, and playing the guitar.
Manjot | Research Assistant

Manjot is a fourth-year undergraduate student majoring in psychology. She loves learning about languages and phonetics, and in the future, she wishes to pursue clinical psychology and become a therapist. In her free time, she enjoys painting, baking, and reading!
Melodie | Research Assistant
Melodie is incredibly interested in developmental and clinical psychology. She hopes to pursue graduate studies in forensic psychology. She is especially interested in examining the effects that adverse experiences can have on later criminal behaviour and the root causes or motivations that can explain why people behave the way that they do. In her free time, she volunteers for children with developmental disabilities, reads classic mythical stories of the heroes of ancient Greece, along with crime biographies, and loves to spend time with her 3 sisters, 2 dogs, and cat.
